I studied Silversmithing, Goldsmithing and Jewellery Design at The University College for The Creative Arts in Rochester, formerly known as Kent Institute for Art and Design, and received a BA(hons).

Metal work has always been a passion of mine, during my A levels I studied product design and specialised in metal work, where I designed and made a full size gothic double bed.

After this, which I had enjoyed, I felt I wanted to do something on a smaller scale. I met a jewellery student who made me realize that, that was what I wished to do. I started making small wire pieces of jewellery in my spare time. I applied to several places but Kent was my first choice and I was successful in getting a place. I found that I wanted to go there because of the relaxed atmosphere and the way it was run. I am glad I made the right choice.

In our final year we were able to design and make whatever we wanted, so I found myself specialising in catwalk jewellery. I made a Silver Rib Cage Corset, which was then noticed by a fashion student who wished to borrow it for a photo shoot of a gothic wedding, set in Rochester Cathedral.

After this I decided that although I am interested in catwalk jewellery I also wish to do everyday wear. I feel I do have stronger aspirations to do one off unique styled pieces, rather than mass production. So this is why I wish to be self employed then I can design and make things that I feel strongly about.
